Motivation

Everyone has moments in life where you just feel like giving up or not wanting to move forward. When we get in that funk, it is very important to do everything possible to quickly get out of it. Why? Because life is too short and beautiful to take for granted.

I will admit I’ve had my fair share of low moments, but I will quickly block the negative by thinking of all the positive in my life. I am healthy and alive; there are many people who are sick or have some physical limitations. That gets me thinking “Alondra, you have no illness, you have all of your limbs, you have a wonderful family, a place to sleep and a career you love.”

We live in a world that give the focus and spotlight to negativity, don’t believe me, just watch the news or go on social media. We see this daily 24/7 so we think it is OK to think negative about everything and everyone. We as a culture need to change, and start promoting positive actions and by doing so we will change the way we think and act. That in turn will help change your life.

When I cross paths with someone I smile and say hello, because you never know when that free yet simple smile will help brighten up someone’s day. Smiling also makes you feel happier. Another thing I do is I listen to motivation podcasts, because sometimes you have to hear it from someone that you are valuable and are capable of achieving anything. Books are another one of my favorite sources of staying inspired and motivated. There is so much information out there to learn from! So many different topics, so I encourage you to pick up a book and read 5 minutes or a few pages per day and you will see a difference, plus you will develop a positive habit (reading). Hobby’s are another great way to get creative and they are a wonderful way to relive some stress. Go hike, spend some time surround by nature.

Those are just a few ways that help me stay inspired. You might have other forms, but just remember that the best way to stay inspired, motivated and happy is to live life to the fullest in the most positive direction you can.

Rise and Shine!

Early start….

How do you start you day? What is your routine? For me, I like to be an early bird even on the weekends.

Monday – Friday I am up at 5:30. I make myself breakfast: oatmeal, a chocolate protein shake or a fruit and veggie shake are my typical go to meals. Friday’s and the weekend I allow myself coffee J

While I eat breakfast, I read a book on self improvement; my goal is to read at least 1 book a month. I switch over to watching or listening to motivational speakers like: Gary Vee, Chase Jarvis, Tony Robbins, Shaun T and others.

I start getting ready for work around 6:10 – 6:15. In the background I put on a podcast of the above speakers.

I leave my house around 7:35 to go in at 8. During my two 10 min breaks I go outside to walk and read more of the book from the morning.  On my lunch after I eat, I again pick up the book. Once 5pm comes around I head home.

I change into my gym cloths, because I love working out in the evening. I do a 30 – 40 min cardio or resistance workout and possibly a 30 min walk.

Once I am all showered and have packed my lunch for the next day, I start working on any freelance design or photography projects I have pending. If I don’t have anything I will read, watch YouTube or just relax. Those nights are not common. There are nights were I have photography class so I go to that.

All in all my daily week routine is pretty basic, but I am always trying to work on something that will help me improve in my designs, photography or marketing strategies. Even on the weekend you will catch me working. I try and give myself at least one day of just relaxing or fun with family and friends. Everyone needs that distraction/break here and there.  But honestly working makes me happy, I enjoy what I do.

So waking up early allows me to mentally prepare my mind and enjoy my cup of tea or coffee without feeling rushed.

Be Patient

Be Patient….

We live in a world where we expect everything to happen or to be given to us instantly in this “microwave society”. We want it fast and with very little effort, but that is not how it works. Take the above snail, it has a destination it wants to get to. The snail can only move so fast and it knows it, so all the snail can do is be patient and keep moving forward inch by inch.

The best things in life are achieved by working hard in the direction of your goals/passion.  Everything you are working for will be awarded at its due time, so learn to be patient. Remember its not about the destination, its about the journey getting to your destination.

Don’t worry about the successes or achievements of others around you, use that as  motivation and continue to work toward your goals. Be patient, focus and get to work!

Have a great week everyone!
