Sports Photography

dsc_6865-fb

Happy Tuesday everyone! Here is Tuesday’s photography tip.

When shooting sports, make sure you have a shutter speed of 600 and above. This will guarantee that you freeze the action. You can set your camera to shutter priority (S) on #Nikon and (TV) on #Canon

In shutter priority you dial in the shutter speed and the camera will set the corresponding aperture based on your set ISO. Remember, on a nice sunny day keep the ISO at 200.

Now go out there and practice! Play with different speeds. If this helps you, connect with me and let me know.

If you want to learn more you can visit the events page for dates, locations and times of the free photography workshop.

I hope you all have a blessed day. Now let’s go out there and get creative!

Taking black & white photos

dsc_7798

Thursday’s photography tip is on taking black & white photos.

During this weeks photography workshop class we learned the following:

There are two options you can use to create a B&W photo.

The first is to convert the image to B&W in post processing. This is the most common one and you have the benefit of keeping both the color version and the B&W version.

The second option, which we learned is a truer way of get a B&W photo is to set your camera to monochrome. With this setting your image will be taken in B&W so there is no post processing conversion needed. The down side is that you won’t have the color photo, but like the teacher said if your intent is to capture a B&W photo then you don’t need the color version.

This is just a tip/opinion, you can choose whatever option is best for you.

Try it out both ways and compare your results. It is all about experimenting.

Have a blessed day and lets go out and get creative!
